Sewage Treatment Plants

A sewage treatment plant (STP) is a vital part of water infrastructure and sanitation that collects and treats wastewater from domestic and commercial properties.

The Process

- Collection: Wastewater is collected from properties and fed into the STP

- Separation: The wastewater is fed into the primary tank where solids and liquids separate

-Aeration: The liquor from the primary tank flows into a biozone chamber, where a pump aerates the waste

-Decomposition: The aeration encourages bacteria to break down the organic matter in the waste

-Final Treatment: The waste is treated in a final chamber, known as the humus chamber

-Discharge: The treated effluent is discharged into local watercourses, ditches, or land drainage systems
